Auction Donations FAQ

What kinds of items do you accept?

We love to feature a variety of items. Here’s a few ideas.

  • Services like karate lessons, massages, or haircuts.
  • Products like gourmet food, pool toys, jewelry, and sports memorabilia.
  • Concert and sporting event tickets.
  • Vacation lodging.
  • Gift cards, maybe one you’re not able to use?
  • The school community contributes bottles for our popular basket-of-wine and cooler-of-beer auctions.
  • Be creative!

Can I donate handmade items?

Yes! Past auctions have included handmade jewelry, birthday cakes, and baby quilts.

Is there anything you don’t accept?

If you have a question about an item, please give us a call.

How are the donations used?

Donations are used at our silent and live auction event in the late winter/early spring. Proceeds from the auction help support the high-quality early childhood education at Montessori School at Ken Caryl.

What are the benefits to the donor?

  • Listing in the printed auction catalog
  • Listing on the school website
  • Acknowledgement on the donated item’s bid sheet.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Your donation is tax deductible to the extent of the law. Generally, donors can deduct the cost of acquiring the goods, but please speak with your tax advisor.

Are cash donations accepted?

Yes! Cash donations for the auction are gratefully accepted as gifts to the school and donors will be recognized in the same ways as other donors.
